5 Fantastic Reasons you should be Proud of Aadhar Project : The World's Largest Bio-metric Database is Here in India

India’s Unique Identification project, also known as Aadhar, earlier this week finished capturing demographic and biometric data of over half a billion residents–the largest bio-metric project of its kind currently in the world.

Some of the touch points we should be proud of:
1. The database project, which is now enrolling over one million Indians residents a day, is scheduled to sign up about 1.2 billion people by the end of next year, making it the biggest biometrics database on earth.

2. More than 40% of the Indian government’s $250 billion worth of subsidies and other benefits meant for poor, will be lost to corruption over next few years. Aadhar will remove the middlemen and curb any corruption by enabling direct cash transfer to those who need government subsidies.

3. Now totaling 5 Petabytes in size

4. 30,000 enrollment centers around the country

5. Aadhar is on track to enroll over 1.2 billion Indian residents by end of 2014, the officials added. This will create a database of about 15 petabytes in size.

Robin Sharma's 17 Tips To Double Your Productivity In 14 Days

1. Turn off all technology for 60 minutes a day and focus on doing your most important work.

2. Work in 90 minute cycles (tons of science is now confirming that this is the optimal work to rest ratio).

3. Start your day with at least 30 minutes of exercise.

4. Don’t check your email first thing in the morning.

5. Turn all your electronic notifications off.

6. Take one day a week as a complete recovery day, to refuel and regenerate (that means no email, no phone calls and zero work). You need full recovery one day a week otherwise you’ll start depleting your capabilities.

7. The data says workers are interrupted every 11 minutes. Distractions destroy productivity. Learn to protect your time and say no to interruptions.

8. Schedule every day of your week every Sunday morning. A plan relieves you of the torment of choice (said novelist Saul Bellow). It restores focus and provides energy.

9. Work in blocks of time. Creative geniuses all had 2 things in common: when they worked they were fully engaged and when they worked, they worked with this deep concentration for long periods of time. Rare in this world of entrepreneurs who can’t sit still.

10. Drink a liter of water early every morning. We wake up dehydrated. The most precious asset of an entrepreneur isn’t time – it’s energy. Water restores it.

11. Don’t answer your phone every time it rings.

12. Invest in your professional development so you bring more value to the hours you work.

13. Avoid gossip and time vampires.

14. Touch paper just once.

15. Keep a “Stop Doing List”.

16. Get up at 5 am.

17. Have meetings standing up.

'Campus hiring to slow down in 2014' -

There will be an overall decline in campus hiring in 2014 and fewer students are expected to get employment right from the campuses next year, according to a survey released Tuesday.

The survey by Firstnaukri.com, a job search engine, reveals that out of the total recruiters surveyed, 73 percent of them said that the number of students to be hired from campuses will be lower in 2014 as compared to 2013.

The decline in hiring will be seen both among engineering and MBA students.

"The uncertain economic conditions will continue to manifest themselves through a weaker demand for students in campus hiring," said Deepali Singh, business head, Firstnaukri.com.

She said most of the companies have adopted a watchful approach towards recruitment and its ramifications will be felt in campus hiring as well.

Highlighting the key challenges faced while hiring from campuses, the survey said: "Lack of communication and analytical skills, students' refusal to join a company after accepting the offer and salary expectations are some of the challenges faced by the recruiters while hiring from campuses."

Personal interviews emerged as the most favored mode of recruiting students with 40 percent of total recruiters opting for the same.

The survey was conducted among 115 recruiters across India covering sectors like technology, construction and finance.
